Data analYSIS: male/female longevity by state

There is no state where men outlive women. I naively thought there must be at least one. Nah. It’s just a truism, normative across the continent. (And life!)

In any case, the state with the longest lifespan is 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐢. The shortest, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢.

There are zero states where men on average reach 80. There are many where women do, including 𝐈𝐝𝐚𝐡𝐨, 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 and 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐚.

The “state” with the largest gap between male and female lifespans is the 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚. The state with the smallest gap: 𝐔𝐭𝐚𝐡.
